Impact

Despite the severe barriers of the population served by New Start, our work is having an impact and recidivism is being reduced. From October 2013 – April 2020, the following results have been achieved:  

• 133 medium to high risk/high need individuals on probation or parole have been enrolled in the New Start program 

• 92 individuals have graduated 

• 82 of the 92 graduates have secured employment (90% placement rate) 

• 78% of program graduates have not been reconvicted

• At the cost of approximately $36,000 per year to house an inmate in Delaware’s prisons, the graduates who are sustaining success are saving the State of Delaware over $2.5M per year and are now contributing, tax-paying citizens
